By utilising tank culture in the aquaculture section of the system we achieve feed conversion rates of 1:1.2, compared to normal pond production of between 1:2 to 1:2.5. In real terms, this means that for every 1.2kg of feed we achieve 1kg of fish weight, compared to the conventional ratio of 2kg/2.5kg of feed to every 1kg of fish weight, we halve production costs to achieve the same yield.
By raising our fish stock in tanks we remove the opportunity for predators to steal the livestock. Decreasing these losses we receive the full return on our feed investment. We employ a system of protocols, ranging from mechanical and biological water filtration, to quarantine tanks for new stock, to ozone water treatment. We also use rapid salinity variation treatments to control pathogen and disease outbreaks naturally, without resorting to antibiotics.
